George Clooney is da man!
The A-lister is the first actor announce his participation in the Los Angeles reading of Dustin Lance Black's play 8, which focuses on the federal case challenging Prop 8.
Although Clooney is not known for his stage work, it sounds like he was willing to take on a role because the subject matter is something he's very passionate about, saying:
"It is astonishing that gay and lesbian Americans are still treated as second-class citizens. I am confident that, very soon, the laws of this nation will reflect the basic truth that gay and lesbian people — like all human beings — are born equal in dignity and rights."
Yes! So glad that a respected man like George is pushing for the equality this country desperately needs to honor!
The one-night-only event, directed by Rob Reiner, will take place at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre on March 3rd and serve as a fund-raiser for the American Foundation for Equal Rights.
