joseph kony
A former Catholic altar boy from northern Uganda, Joseph Kony has waged war against the government of President Yoweri Museveni for almost two decades.
Joseph Kony is accused of numerous war crimes
|
His Lord's Resistance Army movement has been demanding that Uganda be ruled according to the Biblical 10 Commandments.
Wanted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court (ICC), Mr Kony has failed to sign a peace deal with Uganda's government.n August 28, 2008, the United States Treasury Department placed Kony on its list of "Specially Designated Global Terrorists," a designation that carries financial and other penalties.[15] It is not known whether Kony has any assets that are affected by this designation.
In May 2010, U.S. President Barack Obama signed into law the Lord's Resistance Army Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act,[16] legislation aimed at stopping Kony and the LRA. The bill passed unanimously in the Senate on March 11, 2010 with 65 senators as cosponsors, then passed unanimously in the House of Representatives on May 13, 2010 with 202 representatives as cosponsors.
In November 2010, Obama delivered a strategy document to Congress, asking for more money to disarm Kony and the LRA.[17]
In October 2011, Obama authorized the deployment of approximately 100 combat-equipped U.S. troops to central Africa.[18] They will help regional forces “remove from the battlefield” Joseph Kony and senior LRA leaders. "Although the U.S. forces are combat-equipped, they will only be providing information, advice, and assistance to partner nation forces, and they will not themselves engage LRA forces unless necessary for self-defense," Obama said in a letter to Congress.

Hef Talks LiLo's Playboy Pictorial!
Hef Talks LiLo's Playboy Pictorial!
Filed under: Lindsay Lohan > Playboy
We can understand his hesitation, but we're sure he's pretty grateful for making the choice that he did now!
Hugh Hefner recently opened up about Lindsay Lohan's nude pictorial in Playboy, and revealed that despite being unsure of whether or not he wanted to involve himself with her, given her, ahem, 'erratic' behavior, he's ultimately very happy with the way everything turned out!
He explains:
"It really came as a surprise to me. I kind of had mixed emotions about it initially, and then it turned into something bigger than life. I wasn't quite sure where she was at in her life, obviously. It depends on whether it's Tuesday or Thursday. The pictorial and the concept for the pictorial came from me. She had done semi-nudes before. I wanted to do something that would be memorable. So what is more natural, since she is a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe, than do something that is a tribute to the red-velvet, Tom Kelley photo shot of Marilyn Monroe that was our very first Playmate? I think it was essentially mama and the folks around her that kept pushing for less nudity. And I said, ‘We're doing a nude pictorial here. We're going to do it in a very classy way and we're going to do it in a way in which it will not be forgotten.' I think it was accomplished beyond anything I could have possibly imagined. People will not forget this pictorial. It became a stocking stuffer!"Ha! Everyone knows that the true testament to success is making it as a stocking stuffer!
